James Golding
James Golding (born July 19, 1977) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Kent. He was born in Canterbury.
Though he made his debut in 1995, his Second XI career kicked off in 1997. Following a consistent season, Golding was mostly absent during 1998, though during his first-class debut season of 1999, he made several appearances in the competition. Three times over the next three years, he made appearances for Kent against tourist teams from New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Pakistan respectively. Golding made his County Championship debut during the 2001 season, picking up three wickets and keeping opponents' scoring to a minimum.
Kent performed well during 2001, however, despite achieving decent totals for the team when he got the chance, Golding decided to leave the team at the end of the 2002 season.
During 2003 Golding played in the Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League Premier Division for Bexley, alongside team-mates including Min Patel. He played his final cricket match during 2005, in the C&G Trophy. While playing county cricket, Golding was a lower-order batsman.
Following his county career, Golding had a brief spell in the Birmingham Premier League, before moving to Somerset where he joined Marcus Trescothick's club, Keynsham CC, scoring a high score of 169
* during his first season. After a move to Lansdown in a coaching capacity for two seasons he returned to Keynsham.
He is now a qualified P.E. teacher at Abbeyfield School in Chippenham, Wiltshire. Pupils at Abbeyfield are frequently observed calling him 'a legend'. Also he is a tutor (JXG) and art teacher at this school.
